Wasted Potential – Incursions In Battlefield 1 First Impressions (BF1 Incursions Now On Console)

Incursions have finally made their way to console Battlefield 1, as well as on PC. It’s a 5v5 competitive mode with both ranked and practice options. But has the wait been worth while? Is this the shot in the arm that BF1 needs? Or is a let down? Let’s find out.

Battlefield 1 takes you back to The Great War, WW1, where new technology and worldwide conflict changed the face of warfare forever. Take part in every battle, control every massive vehicle, and execute every maneuver that turns an entire fight around. The whole world is at war – see what’s beyond the trenches.

Changing environments in locations all over the world. Discover every part of a global conflict from shore to shore – fight in besieged French cities, great open spaces in the Italian Alps or vast Arabian deserts. Fully destructible environments and ever-changing weather create landscapes that change moment to moment; whether you’re tearing apart fortifications with gunfire or blasting craters in the earth, no battle is ever the same.

Huge multiplayer battles. Swarm the battlefield in massive multiplayer battles with up to 64 players. Charge in on foot as infantry, lead a cavalry assault, and battle in fights so intense and complex you’ll need the help of all your teammates to make it through.

Game-changing vehicles. Turn the tide of battle in your favor with vehicles both large and larger, from tanks and biplanes to gigantic Behemoths, unique and massive vehicles that will be critical in times of crisis. Rain fire from the sky in a gargantuan Airship, tear through the world in the Armored Train, or bombard the land from the sea in the Dreadnought.

A new Operations multiplayer mode. In Operations mode, execute expert maneuvers in a series of inter-connected multiplayer battles spread across multiple maps. Attackers must break through the defense line and push the conflict onto the next map, and defenders must try to stop them.

  1. I play Xbox and I'm a big bf4 player who has played with comp players and I love Incursions! I think it's great but it's simple to late in the game cycle to be relevant. If this was added maybe 3 months at the the latest after the game was released it might be relevant. Right now tho its just not gonna take off.

  2. Keep in mind that this is only testing for the next game. Incursions is already in Beta according to Jojje Dalunde who is the producer of Battlefield 1 Incursions so I wouldn't be surprised if it was in the full version within 2-3 months. In my opinion it is too late for it in Battlefield 1, but as I said it is only being tested for the game, which means it will probably drop at the launch of the next game.

  3. Regarding the separate Incursions download. I was assuming it was like the beta version of the expansion packs, where there was a separate download for the expansions, but they later came to the main game. I think that's the same thing for the massive 16 gigabyte download. I'm hoping it comes to the base game……hopefully.

But other than that, I think you bring up some good points.

  4. Just WASTED!
We were 3 guys in the Party and tried to find a match together.
The same problem as yours: max. 2 people for searching.
We tried to be smart: One friend left the party and the two others had found a match. But the guy who has left the party could not join the match!?
Not even a waiting list exist.

    WHAT A BULLS***?

    Just wasted potential.

  5. Downloaded it last night and uninstalled it this morning don't see the point.. would be nice if DICE took the time to fix the bugs and balance the game more, than waste time on crap like this.

  6. Incursions this late in the game for BF1 has to be a Beta for Incursions for BF2018. I’d download it just for the practice range as my daily “ warm up” prior to hopping on Conquest or Operations. I don’t know why BF1 totally left out the practice range from BF4.

On XBox One there is no information what so ever on the home page when you fire up BF1 so how are players supposed to even know about incursions?

Where can we find the download? On the store? Not a well executed debut for this new mode of game play.

  7. Btw I know you are already “good”, I’ve watched your gameplay. I’m not trying to spam, I’m not looking for views, my vids don’t even have ads. I’m just trying to get to a mere 1 KD since starting Battlefield on BF1. So “constructive criticism” would be great, if you have time✌🏽👍 On my latest game: https://youtu.be/sLojHuliEGA

  8. Played through it a few times, some quick thoughts:

Tanks are too OP. I joined a game where no one was in a tank. And my team got completely mauled. Not to mention it's 5v5, and not everyone has the gadgets to destroy tanks.

Spawns are too far away from the objective. The beauty of frontlines is being able to spawn on your squad mates, allowing you to play tactically. There's like 10 classes and it's possible that no one will carry the spawn beacon.

Lastly, as mentioned in the video, the player base as dwindled down far too much. They should've ditched incursions for BF1, and focus on fixing their goddamn bugs/working on the new Battlefield game.

  9. Instead of working on bf 2018, they are wasting time on this shit. BF1 was like a singleplayer experience for me, I enjoyed it but I got bored of it pretty quick, it lacks those badass ''only in battlefield'' moments that players go back to bf4-bf3 looking for.

  10. If I want to play small population game modes I’ll play COD. I play BF for the large scale battles. I would imagine a lot of players feel the same way. I can’t believe DICE wasted resources on this when there are a lot of other things that need fixing.

  11. I agree its too late. For bf1 at least

If they have a fully functioning incursions whenever bf 2018 drops I will give it a chance.
Haven't played it yet myself and won't be able to for the next two weeks, so I hope it will maintain some players/interest so I can get my melee weapon

  12. I live in Australia so the download is only on 30% (Xbox one) and I’ve been downloading it since last night, thanks for the review I might just cancel the download now

  13. There were quite a few people predicting this. Elements of BF1 main game are still incomplete so the apple is not falling far from the tree. I love BF1 but I wish Dice would become more completionist and stop wasting resources.

  14. What we don't need is another game mode to dilute the player base further. Worse, it comes with preset classes. I want more customization, not less. This is garbage. the game should have launched with Frontlines, Incursions, and Conquest, nothing else. TDM, war pigeons, and even conquest were unnecessary. Seriously though you want intelligent design from a group of developers who couldn't get vaulting to work right? These guys were always the B team and it showed. The skill guys went to BattleFront II. I won't get into the debacle the bean counters introduced with micro transactions as it has little to do with game design in a mechanical and play concept sense. Perhaps other than to say that they left that out is rather telling that they thought BF1 a throwaway to raise some cash to develop SW:BF II.Honestly didn't BF1 feel like a Beta test it's whole life cycle? 5 titles in and they put out BF4 thinking the community wanted a CoD clone. Thinking that FPS gamers are all vanilla when really there are two kinds- strawberry, who like small circular route maps for sprinting and mag dumping, a la CoD and the beautiful and delicious Chocolate who like skill classes, map control, gadgets, and destructible environments, as in BF series games. a BF3 reboot with new netcode and updated engine giving us new graphics and physics would probably out sell anything they've done to date. Which is understandable as it was the last time they were truly relevant in the gaming industry. Remember kids- "Gold before Green", never Pre-Order!

  15. I didn't really have time to go through all the negatives in my vid but I totally agree. It's far too little too late, with almost no thought put into it and the model has been set as the antithesis of playing in a competitive game mode. I'd like to try it when it's all settled down a bit but for now I don't really see the point

  16. They have closed the stable door after the horses have bolted! I am playing far cry 5 till the next battlefield arrives, there just wasn't enough content to keep playing.

  17. I gave up on bf1 and won't be going back ..they only put this mode on to see how it would go for the new bf. This sort of game has had its day I now play pubg I love it so much every game I play is different and I love the way the game dose not hold your hand this sort of game is the future ..

  18. Time spent making this could ve been used to make a decent apocolypse dlc. But it dont think it will be implemented in future bf games because they would have to rebalance everything.

  19. I love it but when people start leaving it becomes a problem, and I think they need to work on skill based servers because I always dominate the score board and always become the only player that actually trys and always win the entire round by myself
